Description Jacques Pronchery 2012-01-17 20:34:34 CET
After a minimal install for lxde (task-lxde + task-X + drakconf) gdm do not
start when booting. I have a console.
If I install task-pulseaudio then gdm work fine.
I do not know which package is needed.
Comment 1 Thierry Vignaud 2012-01-17 23:04:17 CET
you may check for GDM crashes in /var/log/gdm (but without PulseAudio of course in order to be able to reproduce crashes)

I have not /var/log/gdm but I think there is something in this file.

This one is important:

gnome-session[2736]: GLib-GIO-ERROR: No GSettings schemas are installed on the system#012aborting...

Would suggest that gnome-session has a missing dependency

Comment 5 Olav Vitters 2012-01-18 11:18:42 CET
Weird, gsettings-desktop-schemas is already a dependency for gnome-session.
Comment 6 Jacques Pronchery 2012-01-18 11:22:13 CET
In the console as root if I launch gdm I have :
**WARNING**: Failed to acquire org.gnome.DisplayManager
**WARNING**: Could not acquire name; bailing out
Comment 7 Jacques Pronchery 2012-01-18 11:33:37 CET
If I install the package "gnome-packagekit-common", it is OK.
Comment 8 Martin Whitaker 2012-01-27 23:11:56 CET
This looks to be the same as bug 4127. Oddly, on my desktop machine I don't see this problem, on my notebook I do.

is this bug still valid after installing beta 3 or rc?

Comment 10 Jacques Pronchery 2012-05-12 11:07:07 CEST
Now it is OK because it seems that the package gnome-packagekit-common
is installed with LXDE.
