In MCC, hardware, sound, the advanced option says how to repare the sound if 
it does not work.

But thes instructions are now outdated. They have not be updated since Mandrake 6 or 7. For example
- chkconfig is now replaced by systemd
- aumix is not provided (aumix-text still exists)
- pavucontrol and pulseaudio are ignored

There is no tests to find which part is defective. My suggestion is to create a tool inserting a sound in different points in the chain with different inputs.

Trying to ping 41 bug reports in one move, because nothing has happened with them for more than 3 months, they still have the status NEW or REOPENED, there is no "OK" on the Whiteboard and severity and priority are "normal" or higher.

Is this one still valid for Mageia 2 rc?

If it is and you're the assignee, please set status to ASSIGNED if you think this bug was assigned correctly. If for work flow reasons you can't do that, then please put OK on the whiteboard instead.
If it wasn't assigned correctly, please assign back to Bug Squad and explain.

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

As nothing has been done, this is valid for Mageia2.
The Target Milestone Mageia3 is now setup. But is is not forbidden to update Mageia2 also!

Not forbidden no, but it becomes trickier to deal with due to i18n for translations etc.

It is than better to have accurate explanations in english than false in every language.
I suggest to give only an URL on a wiki instead of short outdated instructions.

Finally fixed this in r7771 in svn. Not released yet, but the new instructions should be better and also point to a wiki page https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Support:DebuggingSoundProblems which I'll need to flesh out a bit :)
