I've tried to install Mageia-2-alpha3-i586-DVD.iso on a 3rd platform and run into the same hang. This time at 11 min to finish. I had similar problems on two PC's when I tried to install Mageia-2-alpha3-i586-DVD.iso. Both were standard KDE installations on new (empty, ext4 formatted) partitions (no virtual machine). The hang occurred at 4 min to finish the installation. In a second attempt the installation went well on my laptop, but failed again on my desktop. CC:

g.sprik Thanks for the bug report. Could you provide the file /root/drakx/report.bug.gz as an attachment ? If you don't have the file, you can switch to console 2 (by pressing 'Ctrl-Alt-F2') during installation, put a floppy in floppy drive or plug a USB key/stick and type: 'bug' then press Enter. It will put report.bug on the floppy/key. Keywords:

gerald.report.bug Interesting that it hung in exactly the same place as mine did. I installed from DVD with only GNOME DE selected. I messed around with Gnome and decided to try reinstalling again to give KDE a try. The gnome installation I had clicked more details to display all information as it installed. This time when I installed again for KDE I did not select more details, and the install hung at 9 minutes remaining. At this time I am trying the install of KDE with more details showing. I don't know if this will make any differance or not but its worth a shot. CC:

nextwavecs I've tried to install Mageia-2-alpha3-i586-DVD.iso ( 32-bit ) ( trick, fiddle, fuss with, turn upside down, turn right side up, 4 different platforms ) and it's a no go. Even if you try to install M2A3 32-bit using boot.iso and installing over the net you'll get the same thing. A hang a few minutes before finish. Now I haven't tried the net install boot.iso thing in awhile so I'll give it a go again soon. There is a new boot.iso as of the 23rd but I don't think that's the problem. Mageia-2-alpha3-x86_64-DVD.iso does infact install. At least for me in Vbox. But Mageia-2-alpha3-x86_64-DVD.iso does not handle a USB Keyboard/Mouse so I can only deal with it in Vbox. No Live-CD have shown up for M2A3 so everyone is well aware of all of this and work'n on it. I have the same problem. I don't have report.bug.gz, but do have ddebug.log, and install.log. Would a copy of one of those help? CC:

ab.kde Guys can you test with the beta1 ? Keywords:

NEEDINFO I've had no problems with M2B1 32-bit DVD install. Also no problem with 32-bit boot.iso install Both on Vbox and real hardware. We can probably mark this one solved. Closing then Status:
