ASSIGNED Really? That's what the triage guide says? I thought only the Assignee sets status to ASSIGNED to show that they are actually working on the bug. Teage - ill see if I can find the files, they should be in the mess that is my mageia artwork folder. CC:

watersnowrock (In reply to comment #4) > Really? That's what the triage guide says? > I never saw anything in the Triage guide about what the "assigned" status means or about who is supposed to set it to that status, and I still don't see it. I don't know whether that is because my brain fools me, or because it really isn't there. > I thought only the Assignee sets status to ASSIGNED to show that they are > actually working on the bug. I understood the same from D. Morgan, I'll revert the status to "new". It is confusing, though, status "ASSIGNED" really meaning "WORKING ON SOLUTION" (In reply to comment #5) > Teage - ill see if I can find the files, they should be in the mess that is my > mageia artwork folder. Thanks for searching :) Status:

NEW (In reply to comment #6) [..] > It is confusing, though, status "ASSIGNED" really meaning "WORKING ON SOLUTION" I've always wondered what it meant myself. not really clear at all. Should we consider this (artwork wish of one user) as a real thing for bugzilla? CC:

krytarowski (In reply to comment #8) > Should we consider this (artwork wish of one user) as a real thing for > bugzilla? According to our bug policy: "A special case in the Mageia bug tracking process are enhancement requests. Valid enhancement requests include requests for additional features in software that is written or maintained by Mageia developers" So yes, it is a real thing for bugzilla, BUT (the following is also what the bug policy says and I'm sure you can read "artwork team" where it says "maintainer"): The maintainer is not obliged to accept any enhancement request. These do not constitute 'bugs' under the definition above and consequently it is not our policy that they will be resolved in all cases. The maintainer may choose whether or not to accept the request. If the maintainer chooses to accept the request, they should add a comment to this effect, and once the request is implemented in a package available through the appropriate repository, they should set the bug's status to the RESOLVED FIXED status. If the maintainer chooses not to accept the request, they should add a comment explaining their decision, and set the bug's status to the RESOLVED WONTFIX status. Either of these outcomes constitutes resolution of the issue. Thank you Marja. From my point of view this animated boosplash requrest for Cauldron (!) is odd because: - boot procedure and init scripts are crucial, so adding there extra eye candy functionality can delay (!) and adding extra functionality what can break is irresponsibly - Cauldron is mainly for the developers who test new software - superfluous and really needless job for our artwork team But let the artwork team decide Not only the bug policy, but also the triage guide contains a paragraph about enhancement requests. In the last I read: "Most of requests will be only solved in cauldron for future Mageia releases (like installer related requests), then, you should try to set version to cauldron most of times, except bugs requesting, for example, a package backport." So if the reporter hadn't set version to Cauldron, we probably would have done that ;) About your concern about boot procedure becoming more vulnerable: I'm cc'ing some people from the changelog of plymouth. I expect they'll tell us that if artwork honours this request, that it'll go into a seperate plymouth theme, so that this feature won't be added to the default plymouth theme. @ blino, boklm, dmorgan, fwang Is it correct what I wrote just now? boklm, fundawang, mageia "delay (!) development*" Just a small correction, excuse me. (In reply to comment #10) > Thank you Marja. From my point of view this animated boosplash requrest for > Cauldron (!) is odd because: > - boot procedure and init scripts are crucial, so adding there extra eye candy > functionality can delay (!) and adding extra functionality what can break is > irresponsibly We already have an animated bootsplash. If done correctly, there is no reason that it would break more than what we currently have. > - Cauldron is mainly for the developers who test new software It's mainly used to prepare the next version of the distribution. > - superfluous and really needless job for our artwork team That's not superfluous. If someone from artwork team wants to try to improve the bootsplash theme, I think that would be nice. If this will be in the stable then alright! The author of the request just wrote "make the cauldron animated" what may suggest that he would like this just for the cauldron not for Mageia in general. Regards! What about the picture of a cauldron with bubbles above it that appear one by one while booting? I can't think of anything else this request can be about than about this picture ;) A couple of thoughts: First of all, "I thought about the logo for Mageia called a cauldron." probably means the cauldron-shaped logo, not Cauldron the version. Second, I think it might be prudent to have a look at this thread https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1069&p=9185 on the forum. CC:

4300 Hi Artwork team. I noticed that this request was done for Mageia 2 beta 3, and it looks sweet indeed! Can we close this report then? Yep, and thanks ;) Status:

RESOLVED Just out of curiousness: what does your system need to be able to see this? I can't see it, my screen turns black after the first few bubbles appear, but I don't really care because I normally hit "Esc" anyway. It is just that I expect more people to tell they can't see a thing, and they might care, so some more info would be nice. As far as I am aware this is a standard Plymouth animation. The scripting might be a little bit off, I notice too that only three bubbles appear, then I am taken to the login screen. Perhaps the reactions to the system boot process need to be managed a little better. For any issue feel free to open a (new) bug.
