BTW This was installing Mageia 2 Alpha 2 under VMWare 8 (under Win 7). BTW2 Hope this is an adequate description: I didn't initiate this, a window came up while in MCC.

thierry.vignaud No it's not I'm not sure if it's directly related or not. But I can tell you that I cannot update Mageia 2 Alpha 2 at all (either add or update software) and thus cannot really continue testing it on my part because I cannot even add gcc etc. If anyone has any ideas about how I should reinstall and get HALD to be added/started so I can use mcc-add-update/urpmi etc., then I'd be willing to try it so I could proceed with testing as I had planned to. As a workaround you can remove the cdrom media with "urpmi.removemedia -a" and then add the online set (urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist or drakrpm-edit-media) Thanks very much. That did the trick. I've been able to run mcc and update to the latest updates. I'm off to my testing now. I consider this problem resolved in that I have a work-around. Not being totally familiar with Mageia bug-reporting/shooting procedures yet, I'll the others determine if this needs to be left open per the reported problem (I.e. even though the work-around did seem to solve it). I'll let others ⦠sorry for the typo.

NEW Got fixed in perl-Hal-Cdroms-0.04 (released on Jan 29 2012)
As a workaround you can :
1) disable the cdrom media with "rpmi.update --ignore -a"
2) then add the online set ("urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist"
or drakrpm-edit-media)
3) then install the new perl-Hal-Cdroms

RESOLVED I knew that I could do that for HAL, but not for the mount problem My attempt to update the system resolved in: "Installation failed (as a root) there was a problem during the installation: Udisks daemon (udisks-daemon) is not running or not ready" Has this error the same solution posted above?
