Strange bug :) added the gnome guys as I don't know how work gnome-shell :/ CC:

fundawang, jani.valimaa, olav It looks like gnome-shell is designed to do so: closing the only running application on workspace closes workspace as well and ask(suggest?) what you want to start doing now. Just personal opinion. Btw, the same story with single gnome-terminal on second workspace. In that case you should report the bug upstream (at bugzilla.gnome.org) There was a discussion on gnome-shell mailing list - http://osdir.com/ml/gnome-shell-list/2011-08/msg00147.html - (see Dynamic Workspaces - Proposal 08-21). It didn't get much attention. The single bug - https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663984 (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663984) clearly shows the status of the issue. You may close this bug as well. Ok perfect, thanks (it's more a cantfix/upstream resolution but we have't it :/) Keywords:
