shikamaru Description of problem: abcde requires id3v2 to set ID3 tags, but this is not available. How to reproduce: 1. install abcde 2. run abcde -o mp3 3. receive [ERROR]abcde: id3v2 is not in your path (bug report rewritten to match the format of bug 4023, 'cos that one got noticed and this one didn't!) URL:

http://code.google.com/p/abcde/ The package id3v2 is in the Contrib repository in Mandriva 2010.2. According to the readme in the rpm, it's released under the LGPL license. The projects home page is http://www.id3.org/ while the source can be obtained from http://id3v2.sourceforge.net/ CC:

remco Hi, this package is now available in updates_testing. Can you please see if it works? To test: Insert an audio CD into your drive, and give the command: abcde -o mp3 URL:

(none) Testing complete on i586 for the srpm id3v2-0.1.12-1.mga1.src.rpm Note that if abcde is modified to have a requires for id3v2, then libid3_3.8_3 will have to be linked to Core Updates for bug 2317. Testing x86_64 Before ------ $ abcde -o mp3 which: no id3v2 in (/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/lib/qt4/bin:/home/clairer/bin) [ERROR] abcde: id3v2 is not in your path. [INFO] Define the full path to the executable if it exists on your system. After ----- # urpmi id3v2 ftp://ftp.linuxcabal.org/pub/mirrors/Mageia/distrib/1/x86_64/media/core/updates_testing/id3v2-0.1.12-1.mga1.x86_64.rpm installing id3v2-0.1.12-1.mga1.x86_64.rpm from /var/cache/urpmi/rpms $ abcde -o mp3 Grabbing entire CD - tracks: 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 Retrieving 1 CDDB match...done. ...etc It rips to wav files and then uses lame to encode to mp3 which it puts in a folder named after the CD. $ id3v2 -l <file> Shows id3 tags have been added. I think a require should be added to abcde for id3v2 though, as it fails completely without it.

Junior_job Remco, will you be modifying abcde to add a requires for id3v2? I'm somewhat reluctant to do that, as it can also output to other formats than mp3. @claire Does it also fail when you use something other than -o mp3 as output format? Perhaps it should be added as a Suggest instead? (and then hopefully by the abcde maintainer :-) CC:

shikamaru Validating the update. Could someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm id3v2-0.1.12-1.mga1.src.rpm from Mageia 1 Core Updates Testing to Core Updates. Advisory: This update adds the rpm package id3v2, A command line mp3 id3v2 tag editor, which was present in Mandriva 2010.2, but missing from Mageia 1. https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3934 Keywords:
