Description jcl darkc 2011-12-22 20:21:11 CET
Description of problem:

 On cauldron updated (last update December 22th 8:10pm), digikam application crashes when it detects my canon camera. Moreover, when I plug my camera on USB port, my camera is not detected (no window pop-up with a new device)

 Same operations works perfectly with mageia1.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

libdigikamcore2-2.3.0-3.mga2
digikam-2.3.0-3.mga2
libdigikamdatabase2-2.3.0-3.mga2

How reproducible:

 Every time I try to auto detect my camera (Canon 400D)

Steps to Reproduce:
 1) plug you camera on usb port (nothing is detected)
 2) start digikam, then: menu->import->add camera manually->auto-detect

PS: when I starts digikam from the command line I get this message:

digikam: Symbol `_ZTVN4KIPI15ImageInfoSharedE' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is still in use, all queries will cease to work.

now digikam is 2.6.0-beta1 is the problem still present.
It does not crash here.
I haven't tested camera detection, but that should not be a digikam issue.

Reporter, could you please reply to the previous questions? If you won't reply within two weeks from now, I will have to close this bug as OLD. Thank you.

 Hi and sorry for the delay,

after installing mageia2 beta1 + latest update (March 7th, 2012), digikam has detected my camera (Canon 400D), although no popup windows open automatically after I plugged it on USB port.
Comment 7 Angelo Naselli 2012-03-10 16:51:44 CET
again it's not a digikam issue :)
Anyway it should not have any popup windows just an event in the notifier and the usb widget

As far as i can say we could close it

I agree, this bug was about digikam crashing, it doesn't crash anymore, so closing

Resolution: (none) => FIXED

well, yes it's far better, digikam does not crash BUT there is no more event notifier saying that a camera has been plugged, which is not normal neither.

I see your problem but it's not a digikam issue, action is installed and i tried with my two cameras, and both were seen and usb widget showed them with actions browse, download with digikam or gwenview. So maybe it's an udev issue...
Try opening a bug against udev for that.
