To allow Nginx to log in the apache format that awstats (and others) likes, I suggest changing the default log format as below. log_format main '$remote_addr - $remote_user [$time_local] "$request" ' '$status $body_bytes_sent "$http_referer" ' '"$http_user_agent"'; The normal log format could be commented out to be available if someone wishes to use that instead.
