alpha2, GNOME, Europe1 (already with alpha1):

Boot (no background image, just solid black)
â "Boot Mageia 2 (Cauldron)"    (selected, black text on grey background-highlight)
  "Install Mageia 2 (Cauldron)" (not selected, white on black)
  "Boot from Hard Disk"         (not selected, white on black)

pressing one of the function keys (<F1>....<F6>) moves the selected item to "Install Mageia" - this is unintuitive

Furthermore, the first entry keeps its grey background-highlighting, is now white on grey highlighting - items that were once selected will stay background-highlighted.

Now press <up>, then <down> - i.e. select the Boot entry again and switch back to Install option â now the Boot entry is even less readable - the text now "blends in" with the grey highlighting.

no - this one is much simpler - and you can verify it in a virtualbox VM (even on a system that only supports 32bit guests, as it is before booting the kernel) - but if you insist on screenshots, I'll attach a couple...

same when moving down again, unselecting the boot item that then also was selected twice

there is no further change when repeating the selections after the second time - i.e. the currently selected entry is readable, an entry that has never been selected is white on black, an entry that has been selected once is white on grey highlight, entries that have been selected twice or more times are "melded into the grey highlight".

yes, unreadable items are resolved. Minor glitches remain below the shortcut keys and labels after e.g. switching the language using <F2>.
And of course the unintuitive selecting of the "install"-entry when only changing language (but that will be a separate bug when I get around to filing it...)
