Description of problem:
Can not install printer tried both cups and mageia control center. It ask for a device uri. All updates are installed.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
hplip 3.11.10-1mga2 x86/64
cups 1.4.8-3mga2 x86/64
How reproducible:
install printer

Steps to Reproduce:
1.control center hardware printers add
2.ask for a device uri
3.same for cups

/etc/cups/printers.conf is blank when I open it in kwrite and it won't let me copy it.

you need to open it as root.
(with cat it's easier)

I got the printer to work. Used the fix from https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1512 But mageia control center add printer did not work, It did not find the printer on usb it used lpt1 and the hp device manager does not show the printer. I used the cups interface in Mozilla to install the printer. Hope this helps Thanks
