Description Mike Crecelius 2011-11-27 18:34:35 CET
Description of problem:
Testing the Mageia 2 Alpha 1 disk.
When booting and reading the installer CD, there is a prompt:

Boot Mageia 1
Install Mageia 1
Boot from Hard Disk.

The installer only gives about 1 second before continuing. This is too short. Give more time for the user to make a choice.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 2 Alpha 1. 32 bit. I did not test 64 bit.

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the system with the Mageia installation CD in the drive.
2.
3.

I will test later on to confirm.

If so, we can increase the timeout for Mageia 2 alpha 2.

It should be around 8 seconds from memory.....

I can confirm for KDE4 64bit Europe 1 live cd in virtualbox.

However - the actual graphical boot screen was missing- it was just black whither this is a virtual box issue or not I don't and wont now for a bit as I don't have the time to test on real hardware.

So if anyone can confirm that then i can look further into it later.

Thanks.

I was testing on a physical 32 bit system. Not using any virtual technology.
Comment 5 Donald 2011-12-02 11:50:33 CET
Ok, was the screen completely black, or did it look like Mageia 1's boot screen?
Comment 6 Mike Crecelius 2011-12-03 17:15:36 CET
The screen looked like Mageia 1 boot screen. It all looked correct, just that the menu appears then goes away in about 1 second.
Comment 7 Donald 2011-12-03 18:08:57 CET
Right, I am not quite sure how to debug this, as the new gfxboot is working fine for installed systems.

I should have more time later in the month once my exams are done to get this sorted.
Comment 8 Manuel Hiebel 2011-12-10 23:35:01 CET
In fact maybe all bugs related to gfxboot in the isos (background, time to short, only english in the menu) is more a draklive/isos bug instead and package one no ?

(as it works after the install)

Testing with Mageia 2 Alpha 2 on the same machine.
I now count 4 seconds that the menu is available. This is sufficient time to make a choice.
Comment 10 Thomas Backlund 2011-12-17 20:34:28 CET
Yep. I added longer delay for the alpha2 isos
Comment 11 Donald 2011-12-19 09:54:21 CET
Thomas: I was looking for where you set the time and due to my lack of knowledge with this package's technical side I couldn't find it. Where do you alter it? Thanks.
