Description of problem:
xl2tp package is available for Mandriva, but missing in Mageia.
It is required to use L2TP connections.

Please, to add xl2tpd with patch for reconnect from MRC repo.
And to add networkmanager-l2tp from MRC repo.

For VPN L2TP you can find package openl2tp from MRC repo also.

How must users configure VPN L2TP if half providers in Russia have VPN L2TP?
It's very important package and must be added into installation ISO.
openl2tp must be added into installation ISO also.

Why does half the population of Russia need L2TP VPNs on installation media?

In most other regions, L2TP VPNs are advanced configuration, not for end-users.

Why are you maintaining separate repos, and not maintaining packages in Mageia?

Now VPN L2TP in Russia, Ukraine, China and other countries is more and
more popular. And many providers uses VPN PPTP also. Many providers
uses VPN PPTP and VPN L2TP together.
For example, provider "Beeline" connects new users only to VPN L2TP.

For example, xl2tpd in MRC repo have no systemd, but works fine. You can not add xl2tpd without systemd adaptation in Mageia. Mageia have policy, but MRC have no hard policy (if package works, then policy is less important).

Package openl2tp is present now in Cauldron, but xl2tpd and networkmanager-l2tp are better in tests, than openl2tp.

For import xl2tpd better to use xl2tpd from Mageia Russian Community repo: ftp://ftp.mageialinux.ru with patch for reconnect and without kernel support. Kernel support works very bad and there are many issues from users, don't build with kernel support.
Please update x2tpd 1.3.6 version, new version is available in Debian Sid and use examples units for systemd from Fedora.

Package xl2tpd was imported into Cauldron (xl2tpd-1.3.6-1.mga5).

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => FIXED
