Description of problem: attempting to invoke yelp results in:

Thank you for the report.
You posted it as a 32-bit problem (so I changed the Hardware field). The 'help' in question is from GTK applications.
Can you confirm whether it is 32-bit only, or applies to 64-bit as well.

Assigning globally, but CC'ing tv who used to long ago nurse this.

Created an x86_64 MATE DE only virtual machine.
at first boot, yelp behaves as expected
updated system to current (e.g. kernel 6.6.28-1) and reboot.
yelp behaves as expected.

from this, looks like 32bit only

As you can see my DE is LXQT, is it MATE problem?

I am running the i586 kernel, but all installed kernels for me display the issue. 
yours is x86_64.

so the differences are kernel and DE.
