Gimp 2.99.16 has been released earlier this month:

This newer version has been fully ported to Gtk3. Please update our current version in Mageia 9 to this newer version.

It's in the plan. Just waiting for MGA9 to be released and push the update through the regular update channel.

2.99.16 is now in cauldron.

Well, Mageia *9* is still at 2.10.34 and that is current stable so OK so far,

But you both said you wanted/intended 2.99.16.
That is still the last release candidate for GIMP 3.0

I guess some users want it in backport.
If noting else it is a build preparation exercise for 3.0 ;)
Or should we wait for 3.0 final?

GIMP 2.99.19 is currently RC1 as of approximately a week ago, but requires babl to be upgraded, and gegl to be upgraded too. 2.99 may be okay for experimentation as a developer, but it's not stable enough for production type work. You'll see lots of issues with crashes for 2.99 at this point in time:

This bug have MGA9TOO set.

Mageia 9 have only GIMP 2.10.3
No later in neither updates nor backport
So nothing have changed except in Cauldron.

OPS sorry.

Yes mga9 have both "gimp3" = 2.99.14-4.mga9 (in core release)
and "gimp" = 2.10.36
