I see in the Journal that this is with the updated radeon-firmware.

does 6.3.9-1.1 from:
http://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/mageia.org/people/tmb/Cauldron/bugs/32037/

behave any differently ?
Comment 5 Brian Rockwell 2023-06-23 02:43:42 CEST
Yes that fixed it.

$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 6.3.9-desktop-1.1.mga9 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Jun 22 17:01:59 UTC 2023 x86_64 GNU/Linux

thanks, I've reported the issue upstream for those patches that now are queued for upcoming upstream 6.3.10...

I'll release a full set of 6.3.9-2 with the offending patches removed and a few other bugfixes

I've pushed a kernel-6.4.1-1.mga9 to Core Backports Testing...

Does that one work for you ?

Did i miss your actual update?

I think an update to release came before I picked up backports. Then this update was in core-updates-testing.
Comment 14 Thomas Backlund 2023-07-02 23:51:21 CEST
perfect, matches upstream findings.

they tracked down the missing commit that fixed the breakage on Amd Stoney hw.

and yes, you "missed" some updates but no worries... when I posted comment 12 I had built kernel-6.4.1-1.mga9 in Core Backports Testing, then found a few missing fixes, pushed kernel-6.4.1-2.mga9 to backports testing...

and when I got upstream confirmation I pushed 6.4.1-3.mga9 (the one you tested) with additional fixes to Core Updates Testing

so now we know exactly what broke and have the upstream fix for this issue.

So thanks for testing, and comfirming its fixed.

Closing again.
