I installed emacs-23.3.  It linked /etc/alternatives/emacs to /usr/bin/emacs-23.2 instead of /usr/bin/emacs/23.3.

How reproducible:
I haven't tried to reproduce it by uninstalling/reinstalling Emacs.

1. Install Emacs.
2. ls -l /etc/alternatives/emacs

Comment 2 Malo Deniélou 2012-01-28 14:22:06 CET
Is it still valid?
I can't reproduce: my /etc/alternatives/emacs points to the right /usr/bin/emacs-23.3

Actually I just managed to reproduce it. With an update of Mageia 1 to current Cauldron.

So there is a problem in the update-alternative part of the emacs spec.

Status: NEW => ASSIGNED

Should be fixed with emacs-23.3-5.
Thanks for the report.
