on many laptops I use only nm-applet for wireless configurations. The second icon for network configuration is irritating and is enabled by default. In earlier mga releases I was able to uninstall drakx-net-applet which solved the problem.

It's the same in Mageia 8 which has
$ rpm -q --requires drakconf|grep net
drakx-net-applet

To uninstall it, "rpm -e --nodeps drakx-net-applet".

Assigning to the tool maintainers to consider whether it should be changed.
