We have 2.10.34 in Cauldron for M9.
Do we understand that you have done the update for Mageia 8?

MGA8-64 MATE on Acer Aspire 5253
No installation issues
Run gimp, open a jpg file and press menu Help - Help.
In the browser appears file:///usr/share/gimp/2.0/help/en/index.html, which is the new file.
