you type httpd or apache. Created attachment 13776 [details]
services window
Thank you for the suggestion, but it seems hardly needed - because the list is in alphabetical order. You are suggesting merely to not have to scroll down the list, which is trivial. As for the Descriptions (which are displayed on hovering, and are tedious to search), in many cases, the daemon name tells all. However, it might be useful for the list to instead display the Description on a line underneath the daemon name. Certainly this would make the list visually much longer, but obviate the need to 'hover' each entry. One does not look at it very often... Interesting that you cite as examples 'httpd' or 'apache', which my system does not have; so I cannot see how they appear. If they are displayed as such, then the usual alphabetical scroll search would find them quickly. CC'ing Sturmvogel for his opinion. Severity:

enhancement I have to agree with Lewis: - there is no additional advantage of a search box as you only need to scroll down the alphabetical list - even if the list grows (dependend on your amount of installed packages) it is easy to find the wanted service - also other distributions with a way more developed and advanced "controlcenter" like openSUSE with yast2, don't provide a search box in the services menu So this seems like a feature request with no evident advantage. So fadi halim please accept the bug closure in good faith. We appreciate your interest. You can always re-open a closed bug if you have more information to add. Status:

RESOLVED I do not think the feature is important either. I was just sharing an idea. So close it off if you like. |
