Can't reproduce this. /var/lib/sddm/ permission is correctly 0700 for sddm:sddm after the pkg install. Can you redo the install and check the owner and permissions before chown? Unfortunately cannot do it again, it's an old laptop with some troubling power connection and not mine to mess with it. On the other hand, everything else looked and worked fine. I remember that the ownership of /var/lib/sddm was set to root:root not sddm:sddm. Does seem to be an odd bug, hence me posting it. Cheers
