Junior_job So it is, with macos and sunos too. Thank you. I'm curious why it works well with NTFS-3G. (I'm not used to reading files like the one linked to by Manuel, so I look over the line responsible for treating FAT differently than NTFS-3G) In Mga 1, so with the last installer available when this report was filed, I got this for NTFS-3G
[marja@DenkBlok2 ~]$ df
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
<snip>
/dev/sda8 39G 2,9G 36G 8% /media/WinLin
/dev/sda1 1,2G 714M 487M 60% /media/win_c
/dev/sda2 98G 49G 49G 50% /media/win_d
@ Priscus
Are you only talking about installer, or are you talking about diskdrake outside of installer too?
From the Description:
> This behaviour has been true from Mandrake days through cauldron as of about

I get the impression you're talking about using diskdrake in an installed cauldron.
In diskdrake you can only choose /mnt/windows (still true today with updated cauldron), but you have to type /media/windows, if that is what you want.CC:

marja11 I disagree, that would conflicts with media manager trying to mount a USB Key with 'windows' as label (In reply to comment #4) > I disagree, that would conflicts with media manager trying to mount a USB Key > with 'windows' as label That's why I talked about uncertain benefits. Though it's always a bit funny to see diskdrake using /var as default for partitions named home or local. No real hassle. (In reply to comment #3) > FAT differently than NTFS-3G) In Mga 1, so with the last installer available > when this report was filed, I got this for NTFS-3G > > [marja@DenkBlok2 ~]$ df > Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on > <snip> > /dev/sda8 39G 2,9G 36G 8% /media/WinLin > /dev/sda1 1,2G 714M 487M 60% /media/win_c > /dev/sda2 98G 49G 49G 50% /media/win_d Strange. Diskdrake always proposed /mnt/windows by default at the time. I'm talking about clicking on a partition and configuring the mount point, not keeping the default: this one may be right, for all I know (have to check later). Default mount point proposed for FAT was /mnt/windows, where it should have been /media/windows (or whatever instead of windows, /media was the point). > @ Priscus > Are you only talking about installer, or are you talking about diskdrake > outside of installer too? I was talking about the installer: I did not think to check diskdrake from an installed system (I tend toward the vi solution to system management). > In diskdrake you can only choose /mnt/windows (still true today with updated > cauldron), but you have to type /media/windows, if that is what you want. I'll have to check again, more thoroughly. As far as "wanting" /media/windows, /mnt is _not_ supposed to be using as the start of the mount directories anymore, it hasn't been for some time (LFS3, I believe). All should go under /media by default, with /mnt as a specific choice "if that is what you want", if you'll allow me. Mageia 2 alpha 1 gave me the right default, I think. I'll check again this afternoon. (In reply to comment #6) > Mageia 2 alpha 1 gave me the right default, I think. > I'll check again this afternoon. Well, I recently installed Mga2a3 and Mageia 1 on systems with just one windows partition, and in both cases the mountpoint for that partition defaults to /media/windows I used the DVD to install with. Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja Keywords:

NEEDINFO @ Priscus It is very important for us to know whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2 or for *current* cauldron (so from after Mageia 2 was released). Please tell us. If you don't reply, we'll have to close this bug as old. (In reply to comment #9) > > It is very important for us to know whether this bug is still valid for Mageia > 2 or for *current* cauldron (so from after Mageia 2 was released). > > Please tell us. If you don't reply, we'll have to close this bug as old. Sorry, I've been busy, then out of the country for a few weeks. I'm just beginning to catch up. I'll be testing all my old bug reports on Wednesday evening. Tested the installer tonight: the bug is still there. Just to refresh everyone's memory (my own included) and because my initial report was not clear enough: the problem is in the list of default mount points: one of them is /mnt/windows instead of /media/windows (the others are the usual /home, /var, /usr, /usr/local...) This list appears when choosing a mount point for a partition during installation.

(none) I am going to guess this is unfixed in m5 but cannot test as I dont have windows.
Anyone who can, please check and set whiteboard as: 5beta1; alternatively please close.

NEEDINFO Wrt "junior job", no padawan will make a change to diskdrake after reading that tv had a good reason to think that change was a bad idea. The "junior job" label should have been removed. For the rest: I can't imagine anyone still has a supported windows version installed on FAT partitions, except for the EFI bootloader partition. The partition for the EFI bootloader will be mounted differently. So closing this bug as old. Feel free to reopen and explain if I'm wrong Keywords:
