This was using a plasma net-install made yesterday.
Everything left as default install.

/usr/libexec/mga-bg-res has obviously found the correct resolution from EDID since:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      11 Mar 21  2022 default.jpg -> default.png
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      55 Dec 24 15:10 default.png -> /usr/share/mga/backgrounds/Mageia-Default-1280x1024.png

Neither plasma nor plymouth are using default.png.

grub2 and sddm are both using the correct backgrounds.

I will open another bug for plymouth.

Switching to the "Mageia" background in the desktop background chooser dialog fixes this by using the correct resolution.

I suspect  that the image used by the install was random and wrong.

Until plasma is set to use the correct default images when the new Mga9 backgrounds are uploaded, this cannot be properly tested so closing for now as invalid.

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
