Clean update and reboot.
10-Core Intel Core i9-7900X
NVIDIA GP102 [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti]
Intel Ethernet I219-V driver: e1000e

Basic functions working in Mate.  Falkon, Firefox and Thunderbird running without a hitch.  NFS shares mounted already.  Bluetooth audio failed to connect until device was removed and setup from scratch.  mplayer audio and video OK.
