Description William Kenney 2022-11-10 17:54:24 CET
Description of problem:

has ksysguard gone missing?
looks like the libraries are there but ksysguard is not
It's not in the menu/tools

[root@localhost wilcal]# urpmi ksysguard
Package libksysguard-5.25.90-1.mga9.x86_64 is already installed

MCC reports as installed:
lib64ksysguardformatter1 - Ksysguard libraries
lib64ksysguardsensorfaces1 - Ksysguard libraries
lib64ksysguardsensors1 - Ksysguard libraries
lib64ksysguardsystemstats1 - Ksysguard libraries
libksysguard - Ksysguard libraries

but no ksysguard
or has something changed?
Comment 1 Dave Hodgins 2022-11-10 19:29:49 CET
It's been replaced by the command systemmonitor. I don't see it in the menu,
but ctrl+esc starts it.

Thanks for the enlightenment. One hopes this will work for upgrades from Mageia 8.

What follows is for info for anyone else looking at this bug.
No pkg ksysguard is available for installation:
 $ urpmq -y ksysguard | sort
ksysguard-handbook
lib64ksysguard-devel
[# The following 5 pkgs are installed on my system]
lib64ksysguardformatter1
lib64ksysguardsensorfaces1
lib64ksysguardsensors1
lib64ksysguardsystemstats1
libksysguard

These two are:
 $ urpmf systemmonitor | grep /bin/
plasma-workspace:/usr/bin/systemmonitor
plasma-systemmonitor:/usr/bin/plasma-systemmonitor
I wonder what the difference is...

 plasma-workspace (SRPM plasma-workspace)
KF 5 application workspace components

 plasma-systemmonitor (SRPM plasma-systemmonitor)
An interface for monitoring system sensors, process information and
other system resources

Without installing anything in this area beyond Plasma, I have:
 plasma-workspace-5.25.90-1.mga9, includes /usr/bin/systemmonitor.
Which command works, traditional process/CPU/mem listing; no running graphs.
Agree it does not seem to have a menu entry. This might warrant a bug, change the direction of this one?

For info, I installed and tried plasma-systemmonitor.
This has a menu entry 'system monitor'.
It is a superset of the other, more comprehensive with several choices: Overview, Applications, History, Processes. The last two are what we know: CPU, Mem, Network running graphs; process list with CPU & mem.

Bill's question and Dave's answer makes this eligible for Release Notes; noted.

Can we close this bug (unless complain about no menu entry)?

We need to author something and put it in Release Notes.
