I could resolve this issue meanwhile.
I had to activate /etc/pam.d/system-auth.romnew.
# mv /etc/pam.d/system-auth.romnew /etc/pam.d/system-auth

Created attachment 13416 [details] Error log from journal I tested # dnf system-upgrade in a VM multi-desktop installation. Defaults were sddm as display manager and autologin to KDE Plasma. The upgrade was sucessful. After reboot the login failed.
