High I confirm. This has been going on for at least a month, maybe two. I had held off submitting a bug because IIRC it was being discussed in the dev ML. CC:

mageia (In reply to papoteur from comment #4) > I found this report, but don't know if it is the same: > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2128910 > Do you have hybrid system with a Nvidia graphics card? > Do you use proprietary driver? From repositories or vendor? > Do you have a second screen? Not really :-( I have a LDLC laptop W840SU (in fact a Clevo Notebook). It is full a full intel computer. And it's the same problem but in french :-) "Oh mince ! Quelque chose s'est mal passé". This laptop, under Cauldron, is with the last updates. CC:

p.opter It affects also non-nvidia (e.g. pure AMD) configurations. What I don't understand is why Wayland should be enabled by default if nvidia is detected. I thought we set Wayland on a per-user basis through the desktopmanager, selecting the corresponding "* (Wayland)" entry in the menu. Has this changed? Anyway I tried to merge locally the patches mentioned here, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2128910 (which are in current FC's gdm) to our gdm 43.0, i.e.: 0001-Honor-initial-setup-being-disabled-by-distro-install.patch 0001-data-add-system-dconf-databases-to-gdm-profile.patch 0001-udev-Stick-with-wayland-on-hybrid-nvidia-with-vendor.patch and didn't fixed the problems too. What also is weird is that even downgrading gdm from 43.0 to 42.0 (our revision 1817886 should be the latest known working gdm version from march 2022), didn't fixed the problem too. CC:

ghibomgx Appartently, enabling coredumps with: sysctl -w kernel.core_uses_pid=0 sysctl -w kernel.core_pattern="/var/tmp/%e_%t_%s_uid%u.core" it would result in a crash within gnome-shell ending up in a segfault in libmutter. Did you get the same? There is the package mutter-43.0-4.mga9 that should fix this bug (and a 43.0-5.mga9 will follow too). Check if that fixes this problem to you too. Thanks a lot. The update of this package fix the bug for me !!! Fixed here too, thanks. new net-install of Gnome login via GDM - ok making as resolved / fixed Resolution:
