No change with October 6th image...
Comment 3 Jüri Ivask 2022-10-13 09:04:48 CEST
No change with October 13th iso
This time tested the nonfree variant.
Comment 4 Jüri Ivask 2022-10-31 08:47:20 CET
No change with October 29th iso.
Duplicate of 31028?
As I make the usb stick with dd, I'll try to wait a lot longer this time after the dd command finishes...
Comment 5 Jüri Ivask 2022-10-31 09:01:11 CET
Used the following command (recommended to write PinePhone images) to write the image (in KDE Neon):

sudo dd if=Mageia-Cauldron-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=1M status=progress conv=fsync

No change - the result is still the same.
Comment 6 Barry Jackson 2022-10-31 12:01:52 CET
Did you try using dd with no 'extra' parameters after 'of=/dev/sdb' in a tty?
Maybe type: sync (after dd 'finishes') and wait until the prompt returns before removing the stick. Depending on the system and stick it may be many minutes.

Comment 7 Morgan Leijström 2022-10-31 12:05:49 CET
If you use isodumper, it will also verify
Comment 8 Jüri Ivask 2022-10-31 13:39:39 CET
Up to comment 5 used just plain dd if=Mageia-Cauldron-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdb
Typing sync returns the prompt immediately :)
Comment 9 Martin Whitaker 2022-10-31 14:32:38 CET
tmb always tells us that 'sync' does not ensure the kernel buffers have been written out. Use 'eject' to be safe.

But this is perfectly reproducible when booting in UEFI mode from a USB stick. It is not reproducible in VirtualBox, which emulates booting from a CD/DVD.

Thank you for this confirmation. Raising the priority.

Should be fixed now. Please test when drakx-installer-images-2.87-1.mga9 reaches the mirrors.
Comment 13 Jüri Ivask 2022-11-01 08:36:23 CET
Yes, seems to be fixed - boots again to installer window.
Thanks!
