I was running kernel 5.19.4-desktop-2.mga8 Uninstalled all other kernels except 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8 Installed (all rpm operations by drakrpm): - dkms-virtualbox-6.1.38-1.mga8.x86_64 - virtualbox-6.1.38-1.mga8.x86_64 - virtualbox-kernel-5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8-6.1.38-1.mga8.x86_64 reboot to 5.15.62 $ dkms status virtualbox, 6.1.38-1.mga8, 5.19.4-desktop-2.mga8, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 470.141.03-1.mga8.nonfree, 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 470.141.03-1.mga8.nonfree, 5.19.4-desktop-2.mga8, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 6.1.38-1.mga8, 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8, x86_64: installed-binary from 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8 Shouldnt I also have a line like the first, but for 5.15.62 ? fri Mga8 backports kmods: SRPM: kmod-virtualbox-6.1.38-2.mga8.src.rpm x86_64: virtualbox-kernel-5.19.3-desktop-1.mga8-6.1.38-2.mga8.x86_64.rpm virtualbox-kernel-5.19.3-server-1.mga8-6.1.38-2.mga8.x86_64.rpm virtualbox-kernel-desktop-latest-6.1.38-2.mga8.x86_64.rpm virtualbox-kernel-server-latest-6.1.38-2.mga8.x86_64.rpm File picker dialogue problem, on Plasma. I have not tried the GUI for extension update for several versions, so I do not now if it is new for this version. Problem: The file selector dialogue do not react to mouse clicks! Workaround: Keyboard works. In VirtualBox main panel, File > Preferences > Extensions, I pressed [+] and a file dialogue appeared. At this point output in terminal from where I launched VirtualBox: Qt WARNING: QWidgetWindow(0x4ce9240, name="UIGlobalSettingsExtensionWindow") must be a top level window. (I have not checked if the same message appeared in whatever version it worked in.) After having chosen the new extension version (by keyboard), a popup asks to replace the elder installed version, then it fail as before per bug 18962. Apart from above, my normal tests shows OK as VirtualBox Host. Tested with kernel 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8: Guest 1: my usual MSW7pro-64, tests OK: dynamic guest window resizing, bidirectional clipboard, host shared folders both bidirectional and write protection checked, USB2 memory stick read&write (using upstream extension pack), video playing OK in Firefox. Guest 2: OK: 2x BOINC LHC@home ATLAS simulation virtual machine 3CPU. OK with backport kernel and nvidia-current too. Same tests as described above: all OK. Strange: i can not drag a file from host Dolphin to guest MS Explorer. I forgot to write in above comment that it worked. I have in earlier testing (years i believe) experienced this sometimes do not work but I dont know when it works and not. I often do not write it in my comments. $ rpm -qa | grep virtualbox dkms-virtualbox-6.1.38-1.mga8 virtualbox-kernel-5.19.3-desktop-1.mga8-6.1.38-2.mga8 virtualbox-kernel-desktop-latest-6.1.38-2.mga8 virtualbox-kernel-5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8-6.1.38-1.mga8 virtualbox-6.1.38-1.mga8 $ uname -a Linux svarten.tribun 5.19.3-desktop-1.mga8 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Aug 21 19:58:34 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ dkms status virtualbox, 6.1.38-1.mga8, 5.19.3-desktop-1.mga8, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 515.65.01-1.mga8.nonfree, 5.19.3-desktop-1.mga8, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 515.65.01-1.mga8.nonfree, 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 6.1.38-1.mga8, 5.19.3-desktop-1.mga8, x86_64: installed-binary from 5.19.3-desktop-1.mga8 virtualbox, 6.1.38-1.mga8, 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8, x86_64: installed-binary from 5.15.62-desktop-1.mga8 This broke in the 6.1.36 update and apparently no-one noticed... new set of rpms.. 30813 HP Probook 6550b, mga8-64 Plasma system. No installation issues. Downloaded the extension pack, and installed it using the GUI with no issues. Ran mga8-64 Plasma guest, and updated it. Tried this and that, including Firefox, Dolphin on shared folders, vlc. Everything looks good. Ran a Windows 7 guest, which scolded me because my anti-malware software was out of date. Let that update while downloading and installing guest additions CD image. Rebooted because Windows said it was necessary. Everything worked here too, as well as Windows ever works. CC:

guillaume.royer (In reply to Morgan Leijström from comment #12) > (In reply to christian barranco from comment #11) > > THE ONLY THING NOT WORKING IS THE WEBCAM. > > Was this working in a previous VirtualBox version? Hi Morgan. So, I downgraded the whole thing. I noticed then to get the webcam working, I had to set the usb controller to Controller3.0 xHCI; USB2.0 doesn't work anymore. It used to work with USB2. I have missed from which version it has changed. Upgrading again to VB 6.1.38, setting the controller to 3.0 as well, the webcam works. I learned something today, and sorry for the noise. So, I am ok with this update. HP Pavilion 15-n211dx, AMD A8-4555, integrated AMD graphics, mga8-64 Plasma system. This system had vbox already installed, but had never been used, Updated using qarepo, then downloaded the extension pack and installed it with the GUI. All went smoothly. Exported the Windows 7 guest(took an hour!) from the system of Comment 10, as well as the mga8 guest(only 20 minutes) then imported them into this host. The import dialog box is too large vertically for this display (1366x768), extending below the Plasma panel, but fortunately responded to the "enter" key to proceed when needed. A new user could easily find that difficult to manage when the "OK" button is somewhere off the screen. After adjusting the settings to better "fit" this hardware (more RAM, more cores), I ran each guest successfully. Screen sizes for the guests were both correct.
