So you have no printer driver installed in your VB (as you canceled the installation) and expect that everything works? What happens when you install the drivers? How is your printer connectet? WLAN, LAN, USB? In case of USB: Do you have virtualbox extension pack installed and printer passtrough enabled? In case of LAN/WLAN: how are your network settings of your VB/guest?.... (In reply to sturmvogel from comment #3) > So you have no printer driver installed in your VB (as you canceled the > installation) and expect that everything works? What happens when you > install the drivers? Additional packages were installed beyond the two that were mentioned. The MCC *intermittently* lists two printers, the main entry and the second printer entry (now with _mageia_2 on the end.) There is no change to the Firefox print dialog display. The System print dialog changed, the entry with "_mageia" on the end now shows (or was replaced with) _mageia_2. (In reply to sturmvogel from comment #4) > How is your printer connectet? WLAN, LAN, USB? In case of USB: Do you have > virtualbox extension pack installed and printer passtrough enabled? In case > of LAN/WLAN: how are your network settings of your VB/guest?.... Via LAN (Ethernet), used: 'hp-setup -a <IP address>' to add it. In testing Firefox now, the only Firefox print dialog entry displaying the printer, now successfully prints. For the System print dialog, both of the entries now print, however the entry with _mageia_2 on the end, will not access the two-sided print option, it's greyed out. This loses me: the same printer [?] twice, and in VB (what is the host OS?). Is there a valid reason for this? How did you get there? Lucky this is Cauldron... CC:

lewyssmith I believe tmb could shed some light on this. I beleive this is not even a real world setup to print from a VB guest. The guest seems to see the printer from the host (this is one printer) but also seems to configure the printer as its own (thats the second printer). It would be way more interesting to install cauldron on a real machine and test if printing with firefox works (what i would expect). But with this strange VB setup... (In reply to Lewis Smith from comment #7) > This loses me: the same printer [?] twice, and in VB (what is the host OS?). > Is there a valid reason for this? How did you get there? > Lucky this is Cauldron... Yes, same printer listed twice. Host OS is: Mageia 8 (In reply to sturmvogel from comment #8) > But with this strange VB setup... All I am doing with it is web browsing and e-mail, keeping it lean. Closing this bug as INVALID. Checked other VirtualBoxes I have added, to find the same thing. Not a Mageia issue. Status:
