Description of problem:
Wanted to perform fresh Cauldron install using netinstall iso (in a VirtualBox machine with bridged network)

After selecting DHCP and then trying to choose mirror - no list appears, and I can only use a manual IP address for a mirror (no dns lookup)

Just tried with netinstall from Mageia 8 (Mageia-8-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso) and it works as expected under exact same conditions and machine

So definitely broken Mageia-Cauldron-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso

Everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot machine with said ISO
2. Follow install instructions and choose DHCP
3. NO SUGGESTED MIRRORS APPEAR

After manual indication of the mirror data, I get always:
Error couldn't get file (/mirrors/mageia.org/distrib/8/x86_64/install/stage2/mdkinst.sqfs).

fyi - This has come up on the qa-discuss list. It is still a problem as of the most recent netinstall-nonfree iso (using the princeton.edu mirror).

@Thierry, this is continuing fallout from re-adding the nfs module. If in stage 1 I either change

  hosts: mdns4_minimal files

in /etc/nsswitch.conf to

  hosts: mdns4_minimal dns files

or just delete /etc/nsswitch.conf altogether (to match the Mageia 8 ISOs), then this bug is fixed.

I tested to remove /etc/nsswitch.conf in Vbox booted Cauldron netinstall stage1 network is working again.

This is fixed in the current netinstall ISOs.
