The printer is connected via Ethernet (if this helps). Am attaching scans of the printer test page from Mageia's Printer Settings and the same web page printed in both Chromium and Firefox. Created attachment 13261 [details]

On Chromium's Print preview screen, if More Settings/Print Using System Dialog is selected, the same page then successfully prints in color. Continues to print in black/grey when using Chromium's print dialog. I recall Chromium 100 printed in color, so something apparently changed between 100 and 101. Here is a chromium bug which suggests that this may be related to your HP printer ppd file: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1233437 and https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1035009 Hi. Thank you for the links to the bugs. One of them is for a laser printer. The HP printers I have are inkjet. If it is an HPLIP issue, I suspect something changed between HPLIP 3.21.2 and 3.21.12. 3.21.2 was installed when I first installed Mageia and had no printing issues. It was also some time that I began to use Chromium more often since I installed that and only noticed it the other day when I first printed something. I noticed 3.22.2 is currently in core-updates_testing. On my other Mageia system, that has an HP OfficeJet 3830 All-In-One connected (USB) and there are no printing issues with that model/ppd. I just had a look in the ppd database and loaded in the ppd for the HP OfficeJet 8100, which is an hpcups ppd (the 8210 is a Postscript) and not only does it work with the 8210, Chromium also printed Google's home page in color, so you could be right that it's a ppd issue. I will continue to use the 8100 as a workaround (temporary, for now) until the new HPLIP is updated. Reported upstream: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1975424 Thank you for this very thoroughly researched & documented report. Having perused the upstream links (comment 7), it is unclear whether this is down to Chrome/ium or HPLIP. The Chrome side seems to accept responsibility and promise a fix. Assigning to Christiaan on this basis. In case it really turns out to be HPLIP, CC'ing NicolasS who is the predominant maintainer of that. Keywords:

UPSTREAM I'm now using Cauldron (in a virtual machine, with Mageia 8 as the host). The version of Chromium installed is 103.0.5060.53, HPLIP is 3.22.4. I added the printer using the actual PPD for my printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 8210) and a test print (Google's home page) successfully printed in color. Back to the host OS, same version of Chromium, HPLIP is 3.21.12, switched the PPD back to the original (8210), same Google home page, printed in grayscale. Then switched the PPD back to the 8100, Google home page prints in color. In Mageia Cauldron, this isn't an issue, only in 8. Could it be HPLIP?? Regarding Comment 10, I have periodically checked my bug report, no response at all. I am currently trying out other distros including Cauldron, in virtual machines. One of the others is using driverless printing. When I configured the printer, the PPD referenced Postscript. Going that route Chromium printed in color perfectly. Upon attempting to remove the hplip-hpijs-ppds package, Mageia also wanted to remove hplip, hplip-gui and task-printing-hp. Then when adding the printer back in after removing it and those packages, Mageia wanted to re-install the same packages. Regarding the driverless printing method, is this not available in Mageia? Updating source package RPM. In Mageia 8, HPLIP updated to version 3.22.6 this morning and the grayscale printing with the HP Postscript PPD for the OfficeJet Pro 8210 still occurs. In Mageia Cauldron, the same versions of both HPLIP and Chromium are installed and it prints perfectly in color with the same PPD. Source RPM:

fri (In reply to Morgan Leijström from comment #16) > Now 7 months later, have anything changed? Hi Morgan, sorry for the late response. I now have Mageia Cauldron Beta 1 (x86-64) installed to a flash drive. Current Chromium (110.0.5481.177) is printing in color, so the bug can be closed. Thank you. Status:
