Description of problem:

As leftover of bug #23762, remained the package motif. An xinitrc.d/ scripts startup is causing zombies.

Solution:

The fix is contained in current cauldron version (motif-2.3.8-5.mga9)
which just need to be rebuilt for mga8.

Could you explain how to check for this problem, and why it is important to fix it in mga8?

Christiaan, you are right (in fact you find weird that a php mga6 bug is triggered by motif ;-)), of course the bug leftover is #27362 not #23762. Sorry for the typo. There is a better description there.

As for fixing, with the bug there, running ps -ef for getting list of processes, you get something listed like:

[xmbind.sh] <defunct>

while with this bug fixed, there is no more such defunct process.
