my gps device Haicom Hi-206-USB: gpsctl /dev/ttyUSB0 /dev/ttyUSB0 identified as a SiRF GSD4e_4.1.2-P1_RPATCH.07-HC151113-H 11/13/2015 317;GSD4e at 4800 baud. and this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/foxtrotgps/+bug/1917998 don't show the position even if I have a valid fix >The problem is because foxtrotgps use the status field, but it seems to be >"deprecated" in gpsd. >See https://gitlab.com/gpsd/gpsd/-/commit/c3b0fb6394964ca57cecfa0a65d6b3cde2dd1f6f Given that fixes have apparently been upstreamed, without changing version number, are we working off the old codebase prior to the fix? I suspect so. Tony Please test foxtrotgps-1.2.2-4.2.mga8 with updated patches from Gentoo in core/updates_testing. CC:

jani.valimaa Hmmm, not made it into the mirror I'm using yet. (Princeton) Will test as soon as it appears. Much obliged. Tony I'm not seeing this package in MCC -> Install & Remove Software with core/updates_testing (distrib5) enabled http://mirror.math.princeton.edu/pub/mageia/distrib/8/x86_64/media/core/updates_testing/foxtrotgps-1.2.2-4.2.mga8.x86_64.rpm # urpmq -i foxtrotgps|grep ^Source|sort -uV|tail -n 1 Source RPM : foxtrotgps-1.2.2-4.2.mga8.src.rpm # urpmq --list-url|grep core/updates_testing|grep x86 Core Updates Testing (distrib5) http://mirror.math.princeton.edu/pub/mageia/distrib/8/x86_64/media/core/updates_testing Earlier today I had a problem with the chromium update not showing up in my i586 install, using the kernel.org mirror. Removing and re-adding the repos cleared the problem, though I have no idea why. If "urpmi.update e" followed by "urpmq -i foxtrotgps" doesn't show the new version, try "urpmi.removemedia -y Core Nonfree Tainted" and then re-adding them using drakrpm-edit-media, selecting the same mirror. If that fixes it, we have a second bizarre case to look into. CC:

davidwhodgins Took me doing _all_ of the above in #7, but now displayed it, installed, tested, and its fixed. I trust this will be moved across to appropriate repository. Much obliged. Tony Status:

RESOLVED It shouldn't be closed until it's moved from updates testing to updates. Validating the update based on comment 8. Advisory committed to svn. Status:
