http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks According with http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks "Although using winetricks may be very useful for getting some programs working in Wine, doing so may limit your ability to get support though WineHQ." I don't feel we should provide a simple shell script that any user can download to ~/bin/ and use easily... CC:

lists.jjorge This is not so simple shell script. User also need manually install dependencies. Arch, Debian, Slackware, Ubuntu etc include it. CC:

krytarowski I too would like to see winetricks included as an RPM. The whole reason to use a Linux distribution's packaging system is to avoid having to download and keep up with a bunch of software packages. My reason: I intend to see what I can do to get UPS WorldShip 2012 installed and working under WINE for shipping our custom PC systems preloaded with Mageia world-wide. For this I need to install Mono for Windows under wine. The suggested installation method for Mono for Windows under wine is "winetricks (monoW32version)". CC:

NEW IMHO we should just add winetricks wo our wine package, as not all people have a need for things like q4wine, playonlinux or similar, and several people here asked explicitly for winetricks. Sometimes just unattended installation of some libraries is required. I'll just stick winetricks and the required dependencies into our wine package. Assignee:

doktor5000 The winetricks package still not exists in Mageia 7 or Mageia Cauldron (8) and is useful for installing a recent version of Adobe reader for example. Moreover a package exists on Fedora 32, CentOS 8 and OpenSUSE : https://pkgs.org/download/winetricks CC:

cyril.levet0780 Still valid!!! Can it be done for mga 8? CC:

(apart from asking, I dont know if it is still useful) I also note that Q4wine (comment 10) is in mga8 and Cauldron. |
