Thank you for the report.
First, this is *not* a duplicate of bug 22042 "detecting looping forever while trying to resolve dependancies" and its many duplicates.
Nor do I think it is a duplicate of bug  29013, because the Perl trace is quite different.

To summarise your system, please can you post here the output of:
 $ inxi -MS
and
 $ df
(to check that the disc is not full).

Also, can you describe the cicumstances of the crash. Did it happen once, or more? Did it happen 'all by itself', that is, you were not doing any package or update related manipulation?
