Some more digging and it does not seem to be related to perl-URPM package. It seems that the repositories are not setup properly. I tried to updated an older instance of VM-Box Cauldron(01Nov-last updated) and got the same issues. it is perl-URPM that is broken. just do: rpm -Uvh http://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/mageia.org/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/media/core/release/perl-URPM-5.222-1.mga9.x86_64.rpm and urpmi will start working again Thank you. This bug was short lived as updating to perl-URPM-5.222 fixed it. Great job. Status:

Created attachment 13017 [details] "urpmi --auto-update" terminal output After updating to perl-URPM-5.221-1.mga9, updating the system is no longer working.
