Description Anders Pedersen 2021-10-28 00:00:15 CEST
Description of problem:
I have problems in Mythtv.OpticalDisks.ArchiveFiles.CreateDVD
It dosen't matter witch theme or encoder profile I use.
(I do not think I get that far in the script.)

I have upgraded from version 7 by replasing the repository.
Then I did this: urpmi --replacefiles --auto-update --auto --download-all --test
The result was: 'Installation is possible'
Then I did this: urpmi --replacefiles --auto-update --auto --download-all
I have the upgrade_log.txt file.

Here is the mythtv progress.log:

How reproducible:
It fail every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start mythfrontend
2. Choose 'Optical disks'
3. Choose 'Archive Files'
4. Choose 'Create DVD'
5. Choose 'Singel layer DVD' in Select Destination. Only make ISO, not burn
6. Choose 'Simple - Autoplay' in Select a theme
7. Choose 'Add Video', Encoder = NONE
8. When I press 'Next', I end up in the 'Log Viewer' screen saying 'Setting ionice level to idle'

Hope a workaround can be found and later the right solution.

Best regards
Anders

Thank you for the report. You did not say whether the upgrade was clean or had any errors (especially re mythtv). Keep the upgrade log for the moment.

Is this the first time you have used mythtv since doing the upgrade? Does it work for other things, is it just this special function that does not?

CC'ing BitTwister who knows & understands this application.

***************

Thanks for your time Lewis !.

Regarding mythtv this was the only thing that look strange in the upgrade log:
The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
python2-mythtv-30.0-20200418.1.mga7.tainted.x86_64
 (due to missing python2dist(mysqlclient))

I think the upgrade was clean.

Yes I have the upgrade log file:

[root@localhost ~]# pwd
/root
[root@localhost ~]# ls -l upgrade_log.txt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3044030 Oct 27 09:56 upgrade_log.txt

But the file is to big to attach the bug report.

This is the first time using mythtv after the upgrade. (Just upgraded Mageia)
I can play home videos from mythtv after the upgrade.
I only use mythtv for storing home videos and creating DVDs for my parents.

 Best regards
 Anders

Thank you for the extra information.
Package in question: mythtv-plugin-archive

> I only use mythtv for storing home videos and creating DVDs
Do you not use the actual TV capabilities of the program? What you describe is done by many multi-media applications like Parole, Videos/Totem, Xine, VLC; K3b, Xfburn. So what draws you to use MythTV?

If you really need it, I am tempted to suggest completely UN-installing, then re-installing it. But this is drastic if it generally works for you; it has so many possible components (to see which, use rpmdrake searching 'mythtv'; or do:
$ rpm -qa | grep mythtv
).

If you do not have a TV card (I do not), I could install & try this. You would have to tell me what mythtv pkgs you have:
$ rpm -qa | grep mythtv

please compress it with:

  xz -9 --text upgrade_log.txt

upgrade_log.txt.xz should be small enough to attach

Is this still an issue? Or can we close it?

Sorry to have left you.

It would have helped if you had answered the simple questions in comment 3, comment 4.
Plus: do you actually have a TV card? If not, we could try to reproduce the problem. [I wonder whether I installed it, but it wanted one to run].

Mageia 9 is newly out, so it will be necessary to see whether your problem exists for that also. For the moment I have both.

This seems to have gone quiet. Closing, but it can be re-opened.
