Description Ken Arromdee 2021-10-18 19:45:05 CEST
This library allows playback of (some) blu-rays protected by BD+. It should be no more a DRM problem than the already included libaacs is--any keys have to be provided by the user separately.

Development on this has been stalled for years at version 0.1.2, only allowing the playing of disks up to 2008, but there is new development based on some third party patches (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1886086). I don't know when they are coming out with 0.1.3 but hopefully before Mageia 9 has to be ready.

There's indeed a lot of action there https://code.videolan.org/videolan/libbdplus/-/commits/master/

Maybe it is already possible to clone their git repo and use that as source for a package.

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might, if there are no license or other legal issues, want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes.

You might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager

Created attachment 13351 [details]
proposed spec file for libbdplus-0.2.0

Documentation for libbdplus is available at https://www.videolan.org/developers/libbdplus.html

Released versions are at https://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/libbdplus/
(current version is 0.2.0)

Find attached a (tentative but working) spec file to generate src.rpm :-)

I'll have to check if I have BD+ bluray to test with VLC...

license from upstream is LGPL2.1+ but I've currently put LGPL2+
