FWIW, this is probably caused by this commit for 5.10.48: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/diff/drivers/scsi/sr.c?id=v5.10.48&id2=v5.10.47 @tmb: Would be appreciated if you could take a look, thanks in advance. Assignee:

kernel DVD-Drive: ATAPI iHAS122 E SATA-Controller: 9 Series Chipset Family SATA Controller [AHCI Mode] von Intel Corporation SMBus-Controller: 9 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller von Intel I'm encountering the same problem. I'm now using kernel 5.10.52 with GNOME and the problem persists. This discussion at https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213759 seems relevant. I originally asked about this problem in https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14261 and doktor5000 pointed me to this bug report. If nothing else, leaving a DVD in the drive keeps the tray from opening unexpectedly. CC:

mark.fr.us There is now a kernel-5.10.54-1.mga8 in Core Updates Testing that should hopefully fix this, please try it out Thank you, the new kernel in Core Updates Testing kernel-5.10.54-1.mga8 fixes this problem. Further functions with this kernel I did not testing. Unfortunately this has not really worked for me (using GNOME). I'm still experiencing the DVD tray quickly opening and closing behavior 8 or 9 times out of 10 when coming out of suspend. At least a couple of times the DVD drive behaved normally, but I could not identify a consistent pattern for that. I tried going into suspend with and without desktop applications running but that doesn't seem to matter. It may be irrelevant but sometimes suspend goes to a dark screen immediately, while other times it briefly shows a blue Mageia screen with mgapplet at the bottom and then goes dark. If I can provide better information somehow, please let me know. I thought I should add that I have two drives: DVD and CD. Only the DVD is affected.

29311 An update for this issue has been pushed to the Mageia Updates repository. https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2021-0397.html Status:

RESOLVED I have updated to kernel 5.10.56-desktop-1.mga8 and the DVD tray still consistently opens for a moment and closes when coming out of suspend. So for me this issue is not resolved. Please let me know if I can provide more information. Ever confirmed:

0 ok, that's interesting considering I ended up reverting the offending commit completely: http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/updates/8/kernel/current/SOURCES/revert-scsi-sr-return-appropriate-error-code-when-disk-is-e.patch?view=markup&pathrev=1738278 so kernel should not react at all ... did 5.10.46 actually work ok for you ? I only recently installed Mageia 8 so I went from 5.10.16 and immediately updated to 5.10.48. However, today I installed 5.10.46 but it didn't solve the problem. I also reverted all the way back to 5.10.16 and it appears that this issue was already present. I then went to reinstall 5.10.56 but ended up getting updated to 5.13.8. And the issue remains... I can't figure out a pattern either. Sometimes I can go through 5 or 6 suspend/resume cycles without the DVD tray opening. Sometimes it happens right away. It has happened with various applications running but also with no applications open. I mentioned above that I thought leaving a DVD in the tray kept it from opening, but this turns out not to be true. It will open regardless. I'm happy to provide any information that may help, just let me know what you need. |
