Description of problem:

After update to caludron (2011 Sep 29), my laptop no longer is able to have permission to the devices in /dev/snd. This worked before the update, and part of it seems to be that /etc/security/console.perms.d is empty.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

consistent

Steps to Reproduce:
1.update caldron
2.alsa mixers don't work
3.reset permissions of /dev/snd to world read/writable
4.kill and restart pulseaudio
5.things work

It's a pam issue.

Check your /etc/pam.d/ for *.rpmnew files, particularly the system-auth and gdm ones.

This was posted under several different headings on the cauldron mailing list so please see there for more info.
