Description Lloyd Osten 2021-02-09 17:09:36 CET
Description of problem:Tartube (as supplied with Mageia 8) won't download from Youtube

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible: Happens every time. I just get an error (but the error message in non-specific)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start tartube
2.Go to Youtube and try to download something
3. It just says "error."

However, I did find a simple workaround that fixes the problem. When I first started Tartube, it said it was looking for youtube-dlc,, but that it should work with versions of youtube-dl. I noticed that somehow, I ended up with a terminal screen that showed /usr/bin/youtube-dlc (which is not on my system)

So here's the workaround: simply rename youtube-dl to youtube-dlc. And it worked right away!

Tartube Setup

No.

Tartube really asks you which program you want to use.
And it proposes you youtube-dl.

So. Remove ~/.config/Tartube/ directory in your hidden .config directory at the root of your user directory.

This will redo the user setup.
