Description ian trump 2020-12-16 00:37:29 CET
Description of problem:

WIFI USB3 Adapter not working and not recognised in Mageia 8 beta 2 after upgrading from Kernel 5.9.12 to Kernel 5.10.1.

This issue is similar to Bug 27124 and would appear the adapter has been disabled in the update to kernel 5.10.1.

I can only assume the module is not configured for the 5.10.1 series Kernel properly.

yes I disabled it for now as atleast some of the 8812 hw is now supported by the in-tree rtw88 driver.

I need to check if your usb id is missing from the driver.
Comment 2 Thomas Backlund 2020-12-16 00:56:01 CET
ah, looks like that is still missing...

I'll fix up the 3rdparty driver then again...
Comment 3 Thomas Backlund 2020-12-16 01:49:45 CET
fixed and re-enabled in svn for next kernel build
Comment 4 ian trump 2020-12-16 07:28:13 CET
I am interested to know if the driver for this adapter is going to supported by the Mageia distribution and have it working out of the box or will I have to submit a bug request when the latest kernel series has been applied.

I ask this because you refer to it being a 3rdparty driver and I am not sure how it fits within the in-tree rtw88 driver you mention with regards to its support.

I also have another linux distrobution I use and as far as I can see that distribution re configures the driver on the next boot up after a new series kernel has been applied.
Comment 5 Thomas Backlund 2020-12-16 14:02:49 CET
It will be supported /enabled from now on

I just missed that it was not supported by the intree rtw88 driver yet.
Comment 6 Thomas Backlund 2020-12-16 18:12:50 CET
this should be fixed in kernel-5.10.1-2.mga8 currently building

@Ian
Please report back when you get that update, and if it solves your problem, close the bug (fixed).

When the update arrives I will make sure everything functions as it should and close the bug (fixed).
Comment 9 ian trump 2020-12-17 02:00:49 CET
The adapter is now working correctly again.
