Description JanKusanagi 2020-11-06 13:57:07 CET
Description of problem:
The current version of Minitube in Mageia 7's core-updates repo fails to load any videos, probably due to some API changes in Youtube's part or something.
But the current version in Cauldron (3.6.5) works quite well.

Mga7 needs an update to this version, whether on core-updates or on Backports.

Thanks!

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Version 3.5
Release 1.mga7

How reproducible:
Everytime.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Search for anything on Minitube's search field.
2. List of videos loads.
3. First video doesn't start to play, and other videos don't play either.

If the update is provided, it should start in core updates testing.
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Updates_policy#Version_Policy
If the new version is needed due to online changes it fits the exception -
"Software that is version-bound to an online service (games, virus scanners?) and will only work with the latest version."

Hi, thanks for reporting this bug.
Assigned to the package maintainer.

(Please set the status to 'assigned' if you are working on it)

This report never went anywhere, but not it seems, at least at the moment, like Minitube in Mageia 8 might also need updating due to some online/API changes.

ATM it doesn't load any videos, even if the actual list appears with thumbnails and titles. Each try shows this message in the terminal:
> [unknown] Error "TypeError: Cannot read property 'storyboards' of undefined".

The good thing, if anyone's interested, is that current Cauldron package (3.9-1.mga9) seems to work better, at least partially after removing Minitube's caches and such.

Mageia 7 is EOL since July 1st 2021.
There will not have any further bugfix for this release.

You are encouraged to upgrade to Mageia 8 as soon as possible.

@reporter, if this bug still apply with Mageia 8, please let us know it.

@packager, if you work on the Mageia 7 version of your package, please check the Mageia 8 package if issue is also present. In this case, please fix the Mageia 8 version instead.

This bug report will be closed OLD if there is no further notice within 1st September 2021.

The problem is that the API key we used expired or was shutdown by Google, and I haven't been able to get Mageia to generate a new one we can use.

Version: 7 => 8

Hi,

The searchs don't work in the last version 3.6.7 in Mageia 8 X86_64. I propose as alternative PlasmaTube, that is maintained for Kde and it is a fork of Youtube-dl.

Greetings!!
