RPM Packages When trying to add it directly via CUPS web frontend http://127.0.0.1:631/ does it find your network printer and are you able to add it? Yes via CUPS web frontend it's OK, it find my network printer and I can configure it. System-Config-Printer find my printer but it cannot continue with ipp. It can continue with smb but the configuration is not good. I have problems with the new cups, it start but do not respond to firefox. It's an other problem with X. If I use the driver "nouveau" many apps don't work but with "nvidia" it's OK. For CUPS if I use web frontend it's OK I can configure my printer and it work. Then if I open System-Config-Printer it show the printer with a red panel. If I ask for properties I have 2 messages : Imprimante << Epson >> : << cups-ipp-conformance-failure-report >> Imprimante << Epson >> : << cupq-ipp-missing-job-history >> I have just reinstall Mageia and System-Config-Printer works fine. RESOLVED System-Config-Printer works but there are some problemes. If I ask for properties I have 2 messages : Imprimante << Epson-Stylus-SX405 >> : << cups-ipp-conformance-failure-report >> Imprimante << Epson-Stylus-SX405 >> : << cupq-ipp-missing-job-history >> and when I print something the icon of task printing applet do not appear in notify bar. There is the same problem as bug 2806 the app found the device with his name (ie "USBStation") but if it is not in /etc/hosts with his IP (192.168.1.123) CUPS do not found printer for printing. I am under LXDE and applet of task printing is running. Why Gimp is needed for System-Config-Printer ? Status:

REOPENED Please don't mangle so much different information/problems into one bugreport, that's not really helpful. First, your question about gimp: What got installed when you installed the printer? Perhaps you mean gutenprint-gimp2, which requires gimp? If you really don't want that, you could do the following on a fresh installation, before you setup your printer in MCC: urpmi --no-suggests task-printing which doesn't install gutenprint-gimp2 and in turn also not gimp. For the /etc/hosts thing, this is IMHO related to name resolution problems, as you have the same problem for a samba share. If your name resolution would be OK, without an entry in /etc/hosts you should be able to ping USBStation and you should get some results, depending on the visibility of that machine. But this is unrelated here. You should also be able to setup the printer/printserver via it's IP adress if it doesn't work via name. As you said the setup via cups and now system-config-printer is OK, and you're able to print, i'm closing this one. You need to remember, if we can't reproduce this, and have not enough information what the problem really is, we can't fix it. Status:

System-Config-Printer don't works to config network printer. It recognizes my printer but it's impossible to continue because the button "next" don't appear.
