Description Marc Krämer 2020-08-19 14:46:34 CEST
Localization of linphone is (still) not correct.
All dialogs display only english language.

Preferences dialog suggests (System Default, english, french)

my system default is german; I don't have french languages installed.

Startup of linphone shows this message:
"Use locale: en"

Thanks reporting this,

As far as I know, linphone app has translations on transifex:
https://www.transifex.com/belledonne-communications/linphone-desktop/

and German is here.

Assigning to KDE Team has it is a qt app, and last commit is david_david.

fix in https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26929 does not fully solve the issue

In linphoneqt 4.1.1 sources only English and French translations are included.

There are also only English and French in upstream git repo:
https://github.com/BelledonneCommunications/linphone-desktop/tree/4.1.x/assets/languages

this is from the readme:
Languages
Linphone is getting a full internationalization support, using Transifex platform.
If you want you can contribute at: https://www.transifex.com/belledonne-communications/linphone-desktop/languages/

Both have the same content. Another one is mirrored from the other.

That might be true for newer linphone-desktop, but in mga7 the pkg is from older 4.1.x branch and at that time the app was called linphoneqt. 4.1.x series is shipped with only two languages.

Comment 9 Marc Krämer 2020-08-21 18:19:45 CEST
hmm, maybe we need an update here too. I've tried to make some calls with it yesterday. Answering works, but calling another party does not.
If you say this is an older version, it might be a bug here too. Maybe I try the version from cauldron
Comment 10 Jani Välimaa 2020-08-21 18:27:48 CEST
Cauldron is having the same version. I've built latest linphone-desktop locally, but it crashes when starting so I haven't pushed it to SVN.

I would like to close this bug, as there isn't much we can do if upstream doesn't provide more than 2 translations.
Comment 11 Marc Krämer 2020-08-21 18:52:19 CEST
ok. Sorry I was confused by the name transition of linphone. And I thought our version has translations.
Looks like this package is not very stable :(
Luckily the webphone is working :)
