Confirmed. This complain comes from time when systemd was updated to 246. See also Bugs 27092, 27091. This is non blocker but our Units files should be adapted from these packages. Assigning to basesystem maintainers. CC:

ouaurelien Pinged upstream on shorewall-devel Mailing-List. This is due to an upstream change in systemd since 246 version. Unit .service file can be updated. in /usr/lib/systemd/system/shorewall6.service: Line 17: s/StandardOutput=syslog/StandardOutput=journal/ in /usr/lib/systemd/system/shorewall.service: Line 16: s/StandardOutput=syslog/StandardOutput=journal/ We don't ship a syslog activated by default. We rely on journal by default. (In reply to Aurelien Oudelet from comment #2) > Pinged upstream on shorewall-devel Mailing-List. > > This is due to an upstream change in systemd since 246 version. Well there has been a change alright. Message no longer has console New search term # journalctl --no-hostname | grep obsolete Oct 30 04:26:51 systemd[1]: /usr/lib/systemd/system/shorewall.service:16: Standard output type syslog is obsolete, automatically updating to journal. Please update your unit file, and consider removing the setting altogether. Shorewall and shorewall6 service files still need change to remove obsolete option. Yeah, that's why I pinged upstream devel-ml. Changes need to be done upstream as they provide mentioned above files with their sources. Ourselves we can modify files for our distribution but overall open sources app should be better if modifications are done upstream. Leaving this open as long as we are waiting to upstream changes. Tom Eastep (upstream developer) answered me: "Upstream has been updated, including shorewall-lite.service, shorewall6-lite.service and shorewall-init.service. Thanks Aurélien, -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Q: What do you get when you cross a mobster Shoreline, \ with an international standard? Leaving this open. Upstream change are here: https://gitlab.com/shorewall/code/-/tree/ba87937f49010b873307240e3a6f22deac511d89 No ETA to new release tag. CC'd Thomas. CC:
