Should be fixed with upcoming plasma-workspace-5.19.2-3.mga8 update! CC:

geiger.david68210 What about the fix? work? don't work? Sorry, with plasma-workspace-5.19.2-3.mga8 update, sound is no longer understandable. While correctly configured in Systemsettings > Notifications > Applications: Configure > Plasma Workspace > Configure events. No sound at all at login. Other sounds are well played even logout sound... I think my computer is too fast? for plasma startup? Upstream bug report is reopen at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422948. Seems to be more complicated than just a patch. Also, in Mageia 8a1, plasma-workspace is 5.19.2, not 5.19.3. Is this issue now fixed with new plasma 5.19.3 update?

Startup sound broken =>
[Plasma 5] Startup sound truncated or not played while correctly configured Sorry, On my system, even with 5.19.3-1.mga8 update, bug is still here. I was too kind when I saw a fix ready upstream. In link provided below, bug is reopen in KDE bugtracker. I report it. Keywords:

8alpha1 The upstream bug is very convincing, thanks for that reference. Since you are subscribed to it, please report back here when it gets fixed. What a lot of 'noise' about no noise. Source RPM:
plasma-workspace-5.19.2-2.mga8.src.rpm =>
plasma-workspace-5.19.3-2.mga8.src.rpm

Giving some feedback here about upstream comments: This bug is really silly. But I managed a "workaround" that gives the feeling there is something wrong in upstream Plasma startup's code. This workaround I write is really simple but necessitate PulseAudio binaries (Meanwhile they are with Mageia): Write a .desktop file in /etc/xdg/autostart/ like this: touch /etc/xdg/autostart/org.kde.plasma_startup_sound.desktop vi /etc/xdg/autostart/org.kde.plasma_startup_sound.desktop Add this in the above file: [Desktop Entry] Exec=/usr/bin/paplay /usr/share/sounds/Oxygen-Sys-Log-In-Short.ogg Name=Plasma Desktop Startup Sound Type=Application X-KDE-StartupNotify=false OnlyShowIn=KDE; Icon=plasma NoDisplay=true Save file. Reboot. Log in. Booh. Startup sound played !! And even during Plasma splash screen ! This is hacky BUT end-user doesn't have to write this type of hack. Drawback: it plays only default sound as it is hardcoded in Exec command. And if we ships this file AND upstream really corrects the bug, when update is installed, such file (/etc/xdg/autostart/org.kde.plasma_startup_sound.desktop) must be deleted. Keywords:

8beta1 Assigning this to Plasma/KDE maintainers to look at this. david_david has been working on it. Fix upstream is not as good as it. They reclaim an output of plasma_session from a console. I really don't know how to do so from a tty.

17523 Fixed by upstream release of Plasma 5.20.2 Fixed in: plasma-workspace-5.20.2-1.mga8 Meanwhile, Knotification seems broken at startup. Setting to write to a log file while logon event is still broken. Upstream has applied a patch to prevent a process to quit before sound is really played. So we close this as it refers to "startup sound not played" and not about Knotification. Status:
