The information for the updated 5.6.5 Kernel in the hardware section of the Mageia control center reads as follows:

Note: The ‎802.11ac NIC description for the device comes under the heading for a scanner for Kernel this new kernel.

Vendor: ‎Realtek

Description: ‎802.11ac NIC

Media class: ‎

Connection
Bus: ‎USB

Bus PCI #: ‎5

PCI device #: ‎3

Vendor ID: ‎0x0bda

Device ID: ‎0x8813

Misc
Module: ‎usbcore

The information for the 5.5.15 Kernel in the hardware section of the Mageia control center reads as follows:

endor: ‎Realtek

Description: ‎802.11ac NIC

Media class: ‎

Connection
Bus: ‎USB

Bus PCI #: ‎6

PCI device #: ‎3

Vendor ID: ‎0x0bda

Device ID: ‎0x8813

Misc
Module: ‎rtl8812au

I can only assume from the above that the module for this device has not been loaded correctly or is not actually in this new Kernel.

Please advise.

Thanks for the report.
You got this new kernel quickly; I only see kernel-5.5.15-3 as the latest.

Assigning to the kernel people.

Yuo seem to have some external driver / dkms package in your system.

our module is named 8812au, with no *rtl* before.

I would like to stress this Adapter was not recognised by the system prior to Kernel 5.5.9 until I raised a bug report (Bug 26178). From Kernel 5.5.9.1 to 5.5.15 it worked perfectly until I installed Kernel 5.6.5-2.

I installed Mageia 7 from scratch on a different hard drive and installed all the updates up to Kernel 5.5.15.

I installed the Adapter in a USB port for the first time and configured it to work.

I then upgraded the Kernel to 5.6.5-2, rebooted the system to the new kernel and the Adapter was not recognised properly again.

Prior to upgrading Kernel 5.6.5-2 I did check the module used in Kernel 5.5.15 in the hardware section of the control center and it gave the Module: ‎rtl8812au that was used.

This must be the one given from the fixed/resolved bug 26178 that allowed the Adapter to work up to Kernel 5.5.15.

I have not installed any external driver / dkms package in the system as all the updates were accomplished through the Mageia repositories.

ok, will see where it broke...
Comment 6 Thomas Backlund 2020-04-21 17:45:52 CEST
In the upcoming kernel 5.6.6-1 I've rolled back the 8812au driver to the older revision used in 5.5.15 kernel...

It's just started building for Cauldron, so the kernel for Mga 7 should be available sometimes tonight / tomorrow
