Description of problem:

Kernel rpm / dnf scriptlet reported that it could not find the bootloader and only generated an initrd. I am on mageia v8 x86-64 with a non-EFI/UEFI BIOS-based machine using grub2. Previous kernels installed and booted fine.

Have you changed anything in your system regarding the bootloader ?

There has been no changes for ages in kernel scripts

I don't recall anything like that. Anyway, it seems that 5.5.15-2 found the bootloader fine during today's dnf session so I'm going to try to reboot now, and see if the original report was a one time thing.
